She was terrific, wasn't she? I loved the whole thing, although I would have liked some of Dionysus' powers of transformation to be showcased -- god of theater, a dark god, come on! He did make an adorable club kid with a bad bleach 'do, however. (I don't think they needed to kill the kitten. Zeus wouldn't bother with a kitten.) The Furies! So wonderfully queer! Orpheus, egotistical but kind of lovable all the same. Prometheus! I'm told by some British friends that he is considered the premier stage actor of the land. Jeff Goldblum was born to play Zeus in those track suits.

Yes to ALL of this (although I personally thought killing the kitten was perfectly consonant with the character -- it wasn't about the kitten per se, but about taking away something one of his relatives loved, like when he burned the beehives. He didn't care about the bees, either). Looking forward to hopefully seeing Dionysus come into his own next season if there is one, since they're clearly teeing up his canonical pairing with Ariadne!

Is there a next season? Wow! Ah, but the bees were his children’s mothers, right - including Semele? Hera had made them into bees to punish them, I thought. That one was unfamiliar to me. (Get two classicists in a chat room and they will parse the fine points of reception!) Anyway, I truly want to write the show’s creators a fan letter.
